Scottish council to cut 150 jobs

Aberdeenshire Council is considering cutting up to 150 jobs over the next year in a bid to make savings.

The council will meet next week to set its budget and what the budget report describes as ‘initial indications’ are that 150 full-time posts could be lost.

The report says the implementation of ‘efficiency savings and service redesign’ will be subject to a consultation with trade unions.

A spokesperson for the council emphasised that they hope to achieve the cuts without ‘enforced job losses’.

‘The current model of reducing staffing numbers concentrates on natural turn-over, removing vacant posts, or a reduction in the number of temporary posts being extended,’ they said.

‘It is our intention to manage this number without enforced job losses.’?
